Employee Relations

Employee Relations helps staff employees and management by providing advice and consultation in matters relating to staff personnel policies and procedures. The unit also assists employees with workplace issues, advises management on how to administer fair and appropriate corrective discipline when necessary, interprets staff personnel policies and investigates employee complaints and grievances.

Formal grievance and complaint procedures are available to all regular full-time and part-time employees. Student workers, graduate assistants, adjunct faculty and temporary workers are not included in the definition of employees for purposes of these procedures.

All employees are encouraged to discuss any problem with their supervisor or unit head prior to utilizing any grievance or complaint procedure.  It is the policy of MTSU to make every effort to resolve a grievance/complaint at the lowest possible step in the process.
